Solus is both a goddess, and a realm of radiance, burning with a white fire that churns chaotically in the blinding light. The sentient races, all natural plants and animals, and life itself flow from Solus. Thousands of years ago, before The Waking and The Dreaming separated, the thoughts of Solus were made manifest almost instantly. Since The Barrier went up, Solus has gone almost silent, and the appearance of new living beings of any type has become a rare event.
Worship of Solus is incredibly varied, since the deity does not seem to reward or punish different types of devotion (though most individual faiths see favor and disfavor according to their own belief systems anyway). Each aerolith usually has its own distinct church system, though those taken into a dominion are often forced to adopt the church system of their conquerers, and the different races have radically different ways to show their devotion. Throughout these many versions of the Solusian faith their are some constant themes: radiance, fire, light, creation, creativity, chaos, adaptability, nature and magic.
Those who live down deep in the Gloom still worship Solus, but their version of the faith is often either fatalistic or highly militant – seeing the goddess as either fading away or as highly displeased. The result is that she is worshiped in ways that would insult, offend and repulse many who dwell above the Thick.
